EchoScene: Prodigal 10 - Papa Grace: A Dad’s Steadfast Heart

When Jesus told the story of the prodigal son, He didn’t begin with the wild living. He began with a father whose heart broke long before the famine ever did.

The father watched his child walk away with half the estate, carrying wealth but leaving behind love. He felt the sting of rejection, yet he didn’t harden. He didn’t lash out. He didn’t cling to control or retaliate in anger. He simply released… and remained.

And every day after that, he did something quietly heroic. He kept looking toward the horizon.

Morning. Noon. Night.

Psalm 112:7 captures this kind of faith: a heart that stays steady even when the news isn’t good, even when the story isn’t resolved, even when the outcome is still far away.

The father’s strength wasn’t in pretending everything was fine. His strength and steadiness came from love, a love that could endure distance and disappointment without closing its doors.

Maybe you’re there today. Maybe someone you love is walking a road you wouldn’t choose for them. Maybe you’re living in that stretch of waiting, watching, and praying.

Take heart. The God who taught this father to hope is the same God who holds you now. A steadfast heart isn’t one that feels nothing, but one that trusts Someone.

And the One we trust is faithful. Where is God inviting you to stay steady today and trust Him?

A heart that waits with hope echoes the Father who never stops looking down the road.
