Echoes #11
Echoes of Devotion
Some moments in the Bible expose the emptiness of the rival kingdoms people trust. Mount Carmel was one of them. The prophets of Baal cried out, cut themselves, and exhausted every ounce of strength. Yet nothing answered. Their god was silent because he was not God.
Elijah’s posture was different. He rebuilt the altar, soaked it with water, and prayed with calm clarity: “Answer me, Lord…” His devotion rested not in noise or spectacle, but in the God who hears and acts.
And God answered.
His devotion was not frantic or desperate performance. His devotion was steady trust in the One who reveals Himself.
For us, the echo of Carmel reaches its fullness at the empty tomb. The risen Christ is the greater fire from heaven, proof that no rival authority can save or satisfy. His resurrection exposes false hopes and strengthens every wavering heart.
Where other voices fall silent, Jesus speaks life and where fear threatens, His truth prevails.
Trust the God who answers. Trust the Savior who lives.
These are the echoes of devotion.
