Echoes #9
Echoes of Outreach
Philip wasn’t on that desert road by accident. The Spirit directed him there, setting up a divine appointment with an Ethiopian official searching for truth. The man was reading Isaiah but could not make sense of the words. God had prepared his heart, and Philip was sent to guide him toward Christ.
The Ethiopian asked, “How can I [understand], unless someone guides me?” (Acts 8:31). With patience and clarity, Philip opened the Scriptures and showed how they pointed to Jesus. That single moment of obedience echoed outward and the gospel traveled back with the Ethiopian to his homeland, extending the reach of Christ’s kingdom.
Outreach is not primarily about programs or strategies; it is about Spirit-led encounters where Jesus is proclaimed. God often brings people into our lives who are already searching, already hungry for truth. Like Philip, our role is to walk closely enough to listen, to step in humbly when invited, and to let the Word of God point to Christ.
Every step of outreach is an echo of God’s own pursuit of us. He sent His Son to meet us on the road of confusion and isolation. Now He sends us to walk alongside others.
These are echoes of outreach.
