Echoes #5
Echoes of Humility
In the upper room, the disciples sat stunned. None of them had volunteered to do the lowest of tasks: washing the dirt, sweat, and grime from one another’s feet. Then Jesus, their Teacher and Lord, rose from the table. He wrapped a towel around His waist, knelt down, and began to wash the very feet of the men who call Him Master.
The Son of God, the One through whom the universe was made, chose the position of a servant. In that moment, He revealed that true authority is not about being above others, but lowering yourself in love for their sake.
Humility is not weakness. It is strength under submission. Jesus showed us that the path of the Kingdom does not begin with grasping for power, but with kneeling to serve. When we lead with humility, we echo His example.
So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done for you. -John 13:14-15
Where in your life is Jesus calling you to take up a towel and to serve in ways that may seem beneath you but will echo His love?
